Beth's journey with us began in 2018, and it has been nothing short of transformative. Starting as a Support Worker and now serving as Operations Director for Children's Homes, Beth's path has been ‘’shaped by learning, growth, and great support from an exceptional team’’ she says.
Beth was initially attracted to Phoenix because of its reputation as a growing company with exciting opportunities. Over time, her perception strengthened. Phoenix became more than just a workplace; it evolved into a community focused on embracing change, improving standards of care, and providing a nurturing environment for both the team and the children we support.
Beth’s time with us has been filled with memorable moments—from celebrating Team Members’ achievements at our HEART Awards ceremonies to dancing with children to help them calm down, and even going train spotting. These experiences, coupled with summer barbeques and festive celebrations, reflect the warmth, partnership, and solidarity that define the Phoenix Community.
Her role has evolved significantly over the years, moving from a Support Worker to Operations Director for Children's Homes. Along the way, she gained a deep understanding of trauma-informed care and participated in a wide range of training, from exploitation awareness to first aid. This continuous learning has been central to her professional development.
‘’Being a key player in implementing our therapeutic approach stands out as a proud accomplishment. This approach has become integral to our care, ensuring that decisions are rooted in the best interests of the children.’’
Continuous learning, particularly in trauma-informed care, has been instrumental for Beth in supporting both Team Members and children. It has improved her decision-making process and ensured that the well-being of the children remains the top priority.
Our culture and approach are centered around putting children at the heart of every decision. It’s a culture of reflection, continuous improvement, and a commitment to becoming leaders in the sector. Our HEART values align perfectly with the PACE therapeutic approach, further solidifying our dedication to excellent care.
Collaboration with her colleagues has been a cornerstone of Beth’s growth. The supportive relationships she built during her pregnancies and return to work as a mother of two highlight the sense of camaraderie within the Phoenix team.
Her advice to new starters: ‘’I urge you to savour the highs – the trips, hugs, and laughter. Support each other during the lows, it is in those moments that we make an impact that lasts on the lives of the children we support.’’
Looking back, Beth sees how Phoenix has grown—from opening more homes to streamlining systems and cultivating a team of managers committed to delivering exceptional care. The sophistication and dedication of the group reflect the incredible progress they’ve made.
She says: “Phoenix is not just a workplace; it’s a community of passionate individuals dedicated to improving children’s lives. It’s a place where self-reflection, continuous improvement, and fearless progress are embraced. Phoenix Learning and Care is where every day offers the chance to nurture growth and make a positive impact on the lives of the children we support.”
