Support Workers at Phoenix Learning and Care make sure the children and young people who live in our residential homes get the care and support they need.
Some days, they’ll take the child or young person they’re supporting to do fun activities like the zoo, swimming, or eating at a restaurant. On other days, the support may need to be at home if the child or young person they’re supporting is having a difficult day and needs more emotional support.
Support Workers help monitor children’s development by keeping their care plans and records current.
Due to the needs of the children and young people we support, Support Workers typically work a 24-hour shift, starting work in the morning, sleeping at the home, and then handing over to the next Team Member the next day.
You don’t need specific experience to be a Support Worker. Whilst it’s always beneficial to have experience, the main things we look for are transferable skills and a resilient, empathetic, caring nature.
All our Team Members get a full induction and training in our therapeutic approach, which focuses on attachment and trauma. We also have a great E-Learning package to allow Support Workers to complete training when and where they need to.
Our Support Workers are required to complete a level 4 qualification in Residential Children’s Homes (If in England), or a level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care for children and young people (If in Wales). We cover the cost of this once you’ve passed your probation.
We love to promote from within, so there are great opportunities to develop your career within the company.
