Celebrating Neurodiversity: Embracing Strengths

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is about valuing different minds. At Phoenix, we support our neurodiverse Team Members every day.

What is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity means different ways of thinking and learning. Neet Lawrence found out they had ADHD as an adult.

"When I was diagnosed, my life made sense," Neet shared.

Many adults feel relief when they get a diagnosis. It helps explain things that were once confusing.

Challenges in work and life

Neet loves to talk and share ideas with others. Sometimes this is seen as interrupting or talking over.

"I don’t mean to. I’m just excited!" Neet explained.

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) makes feedback tough. Neet often worries about what others think of them.

"It can be tiring, but understanding helps," they said.

The power of support

At Phoenix, we want to support all neurodivergent staff. We are always learning how to do this better.

"Support means making real changes," Neet pointed out. "Not just saying we understand, but showing it."

Now, Neet is working with a therapist for support. They hope this helps them and their colleagues too.

Neurodivergence is a strength

Being neurodivergent brings unique skills and talents. Neet sees things in creative ways that others might miss.

They also connect deeply with neurodiverse Pupils. "When I tell them I have ADHD, they feel less alone."

"I can spot patterns and solve problems in new ways."

Looking forward

We still have more to learn about neurodiversity. But by listening and adapting, we can do better.

Neurodiversity is not a problem, it’s a different way to think. It brings creativity, new ideas, and innovation to our team.

Let’s celebrate and support all minds, every single day.
