  • Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

    Job Location: Havencross SchoolDenton, Manchester

Salary: Between £39,975.00 - £48,126.00 based on 40 hours per week, 42 weeks per year

    Contract Type: Permanent

We’re excited to be recruiting for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join our new SEND School, and expanding our Integrated Therapy Team We’re particularly interested in colleagues who have experience working within specialist school environments or supporting children with additional needs.

In this position, you’ll play a central part in supporting pupils with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, helping them develop the communication skills that open doors to connection, independence, and self‑expression. Your therapeutic input will empower children to find their voice, build confidence, and engage more meaningfully with the world around them.

Your day will begin with a collaborative morning briefing, offering space to share reflections, plan together, and stay connected with a supportive multidisciplinary team. From there, your work may include 1:1 therapy, small‑group interventions, or working alongside teachers in the classroom to embed communication strategies into daily routines. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference.

You’ll also contribute to the development of others, supporting less experienced therapists, helping shape training materials, and guiding university students on placement. Your expertise will strengthen the quality of our service and enrich the team’s shared understanding of communication development.

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to help children grow, discover their potential, and build skills that will shape their futures. If you’re passionate about making a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

A day in the life of a Speech and Language Therapist will involve:

    • Taking a trauma informed approach to clinical work. You’ll work with a small caseload of pupils who will have varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Learning disabilities and Autism. You’ll be able to do this through 1:1 support, classroom work and group sessions.
    • Taking an active role in the admissions process for new pupils, including helping to write pen portraits.
    • Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our pupils, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings. This work may include supervisions, training, or taking part in projects related to the work we do.
    • Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the pupils, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the pupils.

To be a successful Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll need:

    • A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
    • Great experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
    • The desire and confidence to run supervisions and offer training and support to other speech and language therapists.
    • Good IT skills – We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
    • A full driving licence. Whilst this role is based in a single location, there will be times that you need to attend meetings offsite which would require the use of a vehicle.

In return for your time, you’ll get:

    • Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays.
    • Pension scheme– Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
    • Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
    • Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
    • Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a six weekly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
    • Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
    • DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
    • After 12 months service - You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.
