    Contract Type: Permanent

Are you looking for your next exciting challenge?

Do you want to help create a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for those with SEND?

As part of several very exciting developments, we are expanding our provisions and therefore delighted to announce the planned opening of a further independent co-educational school. Havencross School will provide learning and supportive environment activities for 45 primary and secondary aged children and young people from across Key Stages 2-4. Phoenix Learning and Care support Pupils with Autism, Social, Emotional, Behavioural, Mental Health difficulties and associated complex needs.

The Havencross School building will enable clear transition between each Key Stages and meaningful pathways towards improved independence and skills. Through your appointment you will have the opportunity to help finalise the development of the school and help shape the way the school is created to meet the needs of Pupils.

Please note, Havencross is a new school due to open in September 2026 so the Caretaker will be the main point of contact for contractors, visitors and our team when visiting.

You’ll be a key part of our Property Services team, ensuring classrooms, Team Member areas, and outdoor spaces are kept in top condition. Your hard work will make sure both our learners and Team Members can focus on what matters most.

Joining our team means becoming part of a group that takes pride in the quality of care and education we provide. The work you do directly impacts our learners' daily experiences and helps create an environment where everyone can succeed.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful contribution to the work we do, we’d love to have you on the team.

A day in the life of a Caretaker will involve:

    • Be Friendly and Helpful: Approach every task with a positive attitude and work well with the team to solve day-to-day issues while planning ahead.
    • Be the main point of contact for the build teams as we refurbish the site to make it ready to deliver an exceptional education experience for our new pupils.
    • Take Care of the Property: Do basic maintenance and cleaning inside and outside, including groundskeeping. You’ll also check equipment, manage cleaning supplies, and host contractors visiting the site.
    • Look After Tools and Equipment: Keep tools and equipment in good condition and report any faults for repair or replacement.
    • Ensure Safety: Follow safety rules to make sure everyone is safe at all times.

To be a successful Caretaker, you’ll need to:

    • Work well with a Property Services team and cooperate with education staff in a busy environment.
    • Be supportive, flexible, and committed to achieving great results with a positive attitude.
    • Carry out physical tasks like lifting, moving, and assembling furniture; carpentry skills are a plus. Follow safety guidelines and Health and Safety rules.
    • Full Driving Licence Required as onsite vehicles available for use if required

In return for your time, you’ll get:

    • Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays. You’ll also get an extra day off on your birthday after a year!
    • Pension scheme– Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
    • Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
    • Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
    • Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a monthly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
    • Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
    • DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
    • After 12 months service - You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.

At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
