Job Title: Assistant Psychologist
Job Location: Devon - travelling to various locations
Salary: £25,155.00 per annum, based on working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks of the year.
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time
As an Assistant Psychologist, you'll play a vital role in delivering supervised emotional wellbeing and mental health assessments and treatment services to children and young adults with diverse and complex needs, including learning difficulties, neurodiverse needs, and individuals who may have experienced trauma.
In addition to providing direct support, you’ll be delivering training across the organisation and participating in the review and development of clinical policies, identifying improvements to our current service provision.
You’ll also be required to undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research, supporting our qualified psychological practitioners and other clinicians within the therapy team. Providing support with their evidence-based practice, in individual work and their work with other team members.
This role will require you to travel across the wide geography of the organisation, allowing you to engage with various teams and communities.
A day in the life of an Assistant Psychologist will involve:
- Conducting supervised emotional wellbeing and mental health assessments and interventions for children and young adults with various complex needs, under the guidance of a qualified team member.
- You’ll be working collaboratively with the Integrated Therapies Team and liaising with other health and social care professionals to provide a child and young adult-focused service.
- Supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices and promoting the Phoenix therapeutic approach within the organisation.
- You’ll be assisting in clinically related administrative tasks, participating in audits, contributing to the development of clinical policies, and supporting the organisation’s training and professional development initiatives. Delivering attachment and trauma training across Education and Care provisions.
- Ensuring high standards of clinical record-keeping, adhering to professional codes of conduct, and participating in regular clinical supervision and personal development activities.
To be a successful Assistant Psychologist, you’ll need:
- An undergraduate degree in psychology – eligible for BPS graduate membership.
- Experience of working with people with learning or mental health difficulties.
- The desire and confidence to offer training to others.
- Good IT skills – We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
- A full driving licence. You will need to travel to different locations in Devon on a regular basis.
