• About The Role

  • Job Title: HR Administrator

    Job Location: Tiverton

Salary: £15,000 based on working 24 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time

We need you, to help us, make sure vulnerable children and adults have the right team around them, with the right skills.

Whilst this is an HR Administrator’s position, internally we’re called “People Services”. It reflects what we do – We support Team Members in being able to do the great work they do.

We can’t arrange training without having someone to organise rooms, book training sessions and answer queries. We can’t have a new Team Member join us without someone checking that they have the right to work in the UK, they have suitable references, and we know their full work history. We can’t keep track of this without someone taking the time to create their staff file. This is where your skills will shine through.

We need someone confident with Microsoft packages, proactive, with a keen eye for detail, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. If you have these skills, we can show you the rest.

Please note—we’re currently trialling a nine–day fortnight, meaning you’ll work nine days in two weeks but be paid for the full 10!

A day in the life of a HR Administrator will involve:

    • Onboarding – Working with our recruitment team and hiring managers to ensure offers are sent out to successful candidates. You’ll spend time requesting employee references, running DBS checks, and setting up staff files on our system.
    • Training Coordination – When we have new people join, most have an induction. When we recognise a chance to upskill our support workers, we’ll arrange for them to have training. You’ll spend time arranging this and making sure everyone knows where they need to be.
    • Mailbox management—You'll look after a few mailboxes, including our recruitment, onboarding, and training emails. We’ll make sure you know what needs to be actioned, forwarded, or simply deleted!
    • Telephone work – Most of this role is email-based, but people do call with queries related to training or onboarding. Sometimes you may need to chase a reference verbally, or call a training provider to ask a few questions, as well as answering queries from candidates, suppliers or Team Members.

To be a successful HR Administrator, you’ll need:

    • Good admin experience - We need someone who can hit the ground running with systems and admin tasks. We’ll show you the specifics that relate to us, but we need you to know the basics.
    • A great eye for detail. In HR, detail can really impact the service we provide. Our data is only as good as the information being put in, so we need to make sure what we do is accurate.
    • Great communication skills — Verbal and written communication are important in this role, as you’ll speak to many different people at different times.

In return for your time, you’ll get:

    • Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave (You’ll get a Pro Rata amount for the length of your contract). You’ll also get an extra day off for your birthday after your first year with us.
    • Pension scheme– Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
    • Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
    • Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
    • Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a monthly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
    • Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
    • DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.

After 12 months service you’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.

At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
