Job Location: The Grange School, Thatcham (RG2)
Salary: £47,673.60 based on working 40 hours per week, 39.2 weeks of the year.
Contract: Permanent - Term Time Only
We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and forward‑thinking Teacher to step into the role of Curriculum Lead and join our vibrant teaching team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves to think beyond traditional approaches and transform everyday lessons into meaningful, hands‑on learning experiences that truly come alive for Pupils.
You’ll mentor and guide our teaching team, ensuring high‑quality provisions are in place for every Pupil. You’ll play a key part in School Development Planning, supporting team members to design activities that spark curiosity, nurture confidence, and promote active, experiential learning. You’ll also review and refine personalised learning programmes, helping each Pupil grow beyond their own expectations and celebrate their progress along the way.
A key part of your role will be ensuring Pupils have rich opportunities to develop and apply their Literacy, Numeracy, and STEM skills across the curriculum. This might include creative STEM challenges, like building simple machines, exploring cause‑and‑effect through everyday experiments, or turning ordinary objects such as balloons, kitchen ingredients, or plants into powerful tools for discovery.
With small class sizes, typically five pupils, you’ll have the opportunity to develop strong, meaningful relationships, ensuring each Pupil receives the support and attention they need to thrive.
If you’re excited by the idea of making a genuine difference, bringing learning to life in imaginative ways and inspiring pupils through a flexible, creative teaching approach, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Your passion could help shape a learning environment where every child feels supported, encouraged, and ready to shine.
A day in the life of a Curriculum Lead will involve:
- Supporting a well‑balanced curriculum by ensuring strong opportunities for Literacy, Numeracy and STEM, and supporting teachers to tailor learning to each Pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan.
- Leading the ongoing development, monitoring and refinement of a curriculum that is broad, engaging and appropriately challenging, while promoting continuity and progression for all Pupils.
- Supporting the teaching teams and coordinating with multi‑agency professionals particularly for pupils with speech, language or sensory processing needs, to ensure every Pupil receives the right specialist input.
- Overseeing key areas such as PSHE, Capital Culture (Citizenship), Topic subjects (Geography, History, RE), and wider personal development, including initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles and embed children’s rights throughout the curriculum.
- Managing essential operational and environmental responsibilities, including supervisions, maintaining purposeful learning spaces, and ensuring key operational checks and rotas are completed effectively.
To be a successful Curriculum Lead, you’ll need:
- A Qualified Teacher with proven experience in Subject Leadership and a strong commitment to high‑quality teaching and learning.
- Someone who brings patience, compassion and resilience to their interactions with pupils and team members, creating a supportive and positive learning environment.
- Confident in the national curriculum from KS1–4, including secure knowledge of phonics, and able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people.
- Familiar with local and national organisations that can enhance subject delivery, and skilled at building strong working relationships while adapting teaching to meet individual pupil needs.
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding expectations, and genuinely motivated to build a long‑term career in this sector.
In return for your time, you’ll get:
