    We’re introducing a newly designed Teacher Training Trainer / Assessor role, a unique opportunity to influence and build our internal teacher development pathway right from the start.

    You’ll support aspiring and developing teachers as they work towards their qualifications and apprenticeships, with a particular focus on the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher programme. You’ll guide team members from enrolment to completion, helping them grow confident, inclusive and reflective teaching practice through workplace coaching, teaching observations, professional discussions and structured learning sessions.

    A day in the life of a Trainer/Assessor will involve:

    • Manage a caseload of trainee teachers from enrolment to completion, delivering highquality teaching, coaching and assessment across teacher training qualifications and apprenticeships.
    • Assess teaching competence through observations, professional discussions, written evidence and portfolio review, ensuring team members produce strong, authentic evidence of their developing practice.
    • Support team members to build confident, inclusive and reflective teaching skills, helping them apply pedagogy, curriculum design, differentiation and behaviour for learning in real classroom settings.
    • Work collaboratively with headteachers, mentors and education leaders to create meaningful evidence opportunities and ensure training aligns with Phoenix’s teaching priorities.
    • Deliver engaging, inclusive learning sessions (in person and online), embedding safeguarding, therapeutic practice, EDI principles and traumainformed approaches throughout.

     

    To be a successful a Trainer/Assessor, you’ll need:

    • A recognised teaching qualification (such as QTS) or substantial teachereducation experience, with strong classroom practice across planning, delivery and assessment.
    • Proven experience coaching, mentoring or assessing teachers or trainee teachers, with the ability to observe teaching and provide clear, constructive and developmental feedback.
    •  Strong understanding of inclusive teaching, differentiation, assessment for learning and reflective practice, with the confidence to support others in applying these principles.
    • Skilled in assessing competence through observation, professional discussion, written evidence and portfolio review, supported by strong organisational skills, accurate recordkeeping and confident use of digital learning systems.
    • Holds (or is willing to work towards) an assessor qualification, with desirable experience such as delivering Level 5 LST programmes, designing teachertraining content, supporting apprentices through EPA or working within SEND or traumainformed education.
